Description

This handsome antique pocket watch was made by the renowned American Waltham Watch Company in 1908, and features their dependable 'Bond St.' grade movement.

The full hunter-style case is constructed from 10-year gold-filled metal, crafted by the Wadsworth Watch Case Co., and still holds a subtle sheen with only light signs of wear. The cartouche remains blank and ready for engraving.

Opening the front lid reveals a pristine white enamel dial with bold black Roman numerals, a sub-seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and elegant spade and whip hands. The crystal is clear and undamaged, giving this piece a wonderfully clean face.

Inside is a classic 7-jewel full-plate movement, signed and numbered #16335641, officially dating the watch to 1908. The gilt movement features decorative engraving and bright polished screws. This watch has been fully serviced and is running well.

Rarity Rating

⭐⭐ (2/5)
While the Bond St. grade was produced in high volumes, examples in original hunter cases, fully serviced and cosmetically intact, are increasingly scarce.

About the Company

Waltham was a key player in American horology, producing over 35 million watches between 1850 and 1957. Their innovative assembly line methods revolutionised the watch industry. The Bond St. series was named to appeal to the British market, evoking quality and refinement.

Collectability

This piece would make a fantastic first antique watch for a budding collector or a stylish, working addition to an established collection. Its visual appeal, functional reliability, and original case all elevate its desirability.

How This Item Was Made

This pocket watch was crafted using early industrial techniques in Waltham, Massachusetts. The case was rolled with layers of gold and base metal to guarantee ten years of visible wear resistance. The movement was likely adjusted and cased by hand, following assembly line production of parts.
